The smallest of errors at the most important of times!!!!

I’m standing on one of the smallest tees I have ever stood on in my life; it must accommodate 2 people maximum. All the caddies are stood down to the right and at the bottom of this elevated tee, it’s the 13th hole of the Open Championship of 1989 and 30 minutes ago I was leading the bloody Open!!!!

My best shot ever!!!!


It’s the 17th fairway of the Old Course at St Andrews and I have 185 yards left to the green with the wind blowing slightly into my face. If you’re a golfer you can probably picture this hole and the shot that faces me. I have a shot that demands huge precision as anything short will turn left and catch a slope that takes your ball into the road hole bunker and anything slightly long will run over the green and onto the road that lies just beyond the green.

A Small mistake!!!!

During a tournament golfers career he will make lots of mistakes. Some will be his fault, such as errors made on the course, some will be his caddies and some will be out of his control.

A ball in a boat

Practise rounds can take various forms, some people can’t wait to finish them and some tour players can’t compete unless thoroughly prepared. Two Ryder Cup players I know had totally different ways of preparing for a tournament.
