Hi Everyone
Todays email is all about the questions you need to ask yourself to really start to make some break throughs in you golf game. I am passionate in my coaching because I want to get all my pupils to fulfil their potential.
Take a look below how we could work together to improve your golf.
Top 5 questions that need to be answered to maximise your potential. (Or if that sounds a bit heavy, what about just playing a bit better!!!)
1. What is it that really makes you fed up with your golf? Lack of distance, bad contact, 3 putting, inconsistency, slicing, poor bunker play?
Write down 3 things that would have big effect on your game if they where corrected.
2. What sort of practise do you do on a regular basis?
Ideally if I were coaching you I would like to think you would have enough time in your schedule to hit some practise shots 3 times a week.
If that is not possible (which I would completely understand) what about once a week hitting some shots and 3 times a week swinging a club either in the garage or in the back garden. If that is not possible how about putting a golf club by the back door and each time you go outside to take the bins out or something you pick up your practise club and swing it for a minute or so.
There is no denying the fact that a little and often will help your progress.
3. If we know what we would like to improve and we have committed to a little bit of practise, lets find a coach or do you have one already?
What should you look for in a coach? Passion and fun and a sense that he/she is helping you develop by making you more skilful and not just making you more knowledgeable. Knowing more is great but not if it is not providing you with what it is you want.
4. What is it that every golfer wants?
Let me ask you this, if I could give you a great golf swing or a great golf game what would you want. Do not make the mistake thinking that they are one in the same. We know as a fact that some if not all of the great champions of our game have had swings which were not perfect or textbook, but what they did have was a wonderful skill to hit different shots developed over many years of practise. Find a coach that develops your golf shots. You should not have to get worse before you get better.
5. Which area could you get better at in the shortest time with the least practise and improve your handicap by 2 or 3 shots in a 6 month period?
Any answers? Well it has got to be your short game. Stop 3 putting, get down in 2 or 3 shots consistently from 100 yards and you are probably going to save more than 2 or 3 shots.
P.S. Take a look at the coaching videos or the DVD which are on the website for great advice on how to improve your short game.
There is a tip for your chipping and pitching on the website that probably goes against everything you have heard about when it comes to playing those shots but helps every single golfer I have shown it to stop duffing his chip shots.
Happy Golfing
